this will be QUITE a scientific entry. so if ur not intereted, i understand. haha.

so, everytime i sneeze today (estimated value of 5 million sneezes, and still counting...)
i get this sharp pain in the left side of my lower abdomen. and when im not sneezing, the pain's there but not too bad.

why i always have this kinda problem one?

[[ flashback: i went for a gastrocopy and colonoscopy some time last year, and they've diagnosed me with IBS and GERD. ]]

ok don't laugh when i tell u what IBS stands for k.
IBS stands for Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
HAHAHAHAHA.
ok.
enough.
eyy, but seriously la, i can have constipation one day and diarrhoea the next. SUCKS k.

oh, and GERD stands for Gastroesophageal reflux disease.

ANYWAYYYYY, they said its nothing too serious. i just have a very sensitive stomach.
cos unlike YOU GUYS, i've got a cardia failure resulting in GERD. wth is cardia u ask?

haha. ok get ready for the scientific part. oh i love bio =D :

The cardia is the anatomical term for the junction orifice of the stomach and the esophagus. At the cardia, the mucosa of the esophagus transitions into gastric mucosa.

so u all knoe our stomachs generate gastric juice to digest our food right? yes, u SHOULD knoe. haha.

The inner lining of the stomach has several mechanisms to resist the effect of gastric juice on itself, but the mucosa of the esophagus does not.

The esophagus is normally protected from these acids by a one-way valve mechanism at its junction with the stomach.

This one-way valve is called the esophageal sphincter (ES), and prevents gastric juice from flowing back into the esophagus.

BECAUSE i have cardia failure, that damn valve is loose. so my gastric juices always travel back (back-flow) into my esophagus causing "burning and inflammation of sensitive esophageal tissue".

in short, i always get heartburn. haha.

anyway, yes, its nothing too serious. i just have to constantly take medication.
and avoid spicy food, tea, coffee, anything caffeinated and nuts, i think. aiyah. dunno la.
but u tell me, how to avoid spicy food? i LOVE spicy food. how can i sacrifice TOM YAM? and my fave drink is TEA. any kinda tea.

so i've been naughty. havent been taking my medication. and i've been eating spicy food and drinking tea.

and usuallie ive gotten used to the stomach pains i'll get. but the left part of my abdomen reallie hurts =(

i've been researching but abdominal pains while sneezing + GERD/IBS?
has got NO LINK to each other whatsoever.
haha.

but in general,
people with abdominal problems, will usually experience pain while sneezing.
and presence of a fever indicates inflammation.

aiyahhhhhhh. headache already. dun wanna do any more research.
im just hoping its nothing serious.
